Owls (*Updated*)
A few shots of two different owls that I took last year while at the SF Zoo. Also, a small update to the second pic thanks to the San Francisco Zoo who provided me with a link to the story on the beautiful second owl, named Athena.
This is Athena — an Eurasian eagle owl who was smuggled into the USA disguised as a decorated easter egg. Read the full story here, thanks to SF Zoo for helping me put a name to this owl. What was funny — I had been taking photos of the other owl shown in the photo above this one, and Athena was actually hiding under a bush and I almost missed her — she’s actually a REALLY big owl, yet I almost missed her — glad I hadn’t.
