I’m going to get this. Really.

Many of you already know this, but for those of you who don’t, Google released their web browser called “Chrome“. You can read their official announcement here, and find their dragged out comic here (sorry, that was just way too long; but they were targeting open-source developers not the end-user). I’m not one to really stick to a single browser, though my current favorite is Safari (ever since they rolled it out with iTunes on PC). Chrome may soon become that new love. Why? It’s frickin fast. I recall when Firefox first came out – everyone kept saying it was faster than IE, which was not at all an absolute truth. It was slower than IE for my machine (I benchmarked it many times, and even gave it a 2 second headstart over IE). It was even slower when running Flash Player. Safari has been really fast and displays pages great (I know there are faster browsers out there), but Chrome is ‘appearing’ to be much faster. It’s just not all that ‘pretty’ yet. I’m going to give it some more time, but I’m digging it. Give it a whirl if you haven’t already.
P.S. — funny as I was writing this update, IE crashed. Try to hang in there, Microsoft! And Kudos for Google Chrome to ask me if I wanted to change the default search engine at the start… they’re trying to give folks an option.// Jacob
