Flash Tips Overview

Over the years, there have been little ‘oh, duh’ incidents that have helped me and my team get through troubleshooting Flash projects. I’ve been meaning to create an archive of these incidents to hopefully help some others. While I can’t guarantee that these examples follow “programming principles”, they have gotten us through our projects? and we’ve learned quite a bit along the way. Feel free to send feedback so I can revise or even provide other “alternatives” to these problems/scenarios. (more…)

Standalone Flash Video (FLV) Player

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

I’ve been wondering when Adobe would include something like this with the IDE. This is a great tool simply called “FLV Player” by? Martijn de Visser from Amsterdam that will run FLVs for you without you having to embedd them into HTML, a SWF or FLV encoder in order to view them. Many thanks to Martijn for this gift to thje community :)

Free File/Media Converter (Web based)

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

I found this great tidbit off of Digital Media Minute’s blog; Media-Convert.com is a great tool that can convert files of many types (documents, images, videos, archives, sound/ringtones, etc.) into a different format within that type (so word to pdf, etc.). There’s an extensive format support list on this site - too many to list here, so check it out.

Of course, there’s no way to be sure that it’s going to work 100%, but it’s always worth a try, right? Right!

One of my web artists, Ryan Ragona, showed me this great site “Braingiants” that has a variety of flash experiments (with FLA source), including a Bitmap Zoom, Type effects, Transitions, Box resizing, Navigation, Color Transformations and more. Fun site, check it out at? braingiants.com.
